Service Learning at Bullis

Connecting Learning with Purpose

At Bullis School, service learning, as an intentional approach to the pedagogy and outcomes of community service, is an integral part of our curriculum across all grade levels. Our goal is to approach civic engagement and responsibility in meaningful ways on campus and beyond. Through experiential learning, reflection, and collaboration, students grow as community contributors, caring global citizens, problem solvers, and leaders.

Service learning at Bullis reflects our core values:

  • Caring – By fostering a sense of personal responsibility, empathy, and care for the community.
  • Challenging – By exposing students to worlds beyond their everyday reality, we cultivate profound awareness and transform students’ worldview.
  • Community – By encouraging students to foster meaningful connections, respect diverse perspectives, and cultivate curiosity about others, we build a stronger, more inclusive community within and beyond our school.

Building Relationships

Meaningful service begins with building authentic relationships. We believe that lasting impact comes from understanding and connecting deeply with the people and communities we serve. Our students develop empathy and cultural awareness by working alongside diverse community partners, fostering mutual respect and trust.

Through these partnerships, students learn that service is not a one-way effort but a collaborative journey. By listening and engaging with others’ experiences, Bullis students grow into compassionate leaders who value community and recognize the power of human connection to create positive change

Our programs strive to inspire students to understand the lasting impact of their actions and foster civic responsibility, reflecting the vision of our Portrait of a Graduate.
