Description: Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy, formerly Magnus Chess Academy, the five-time world champion’s academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play, including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Description: This club is designed for students in grades 2–5 and will focus on developing skills both on and off the field. Each session will provide a fun, positive, and structured environment where players will build confidence, leadership, teamwork, social skills, and important life skills. Players will work on ball mastery, technical skills, game awareness, tactics, movement on and off the ball, and the cognitive side of the game through engaging drills and activities. All equipment and training plans will be provided. Players should bring water and, if possible, a soccer ball, and should wear crew or soccer socks, shin guards, and cleats.

Description: Our Lacrosse Enrichment Program welcomes any student in grades 2-5 to participate in an introduction to lacrosse. Led by the Bullis Lacrosse Head Coach, Maddie Parker, we will cover the basic skills of lacrosse: catching, throwing, cradling and shooting. During the eight-week session, we will also

introduce how to properly warm up and stretch for any athletic activity. We look forward to working with your child in a fun environment to develop their work ethic, coachability, and team-oriented attitude.

Participants will need a lacrosse stick, mouthguard, and goggles.

Description: Chia Chinese Cooking Class offers a unique opportunity to experience Chinese culture and language through hands-on cooking. Taught in both English and Chinese, the class guides students in preparing simple yet authentic dishes such as fried rice, fried noodles, tomato fried eggs, dumplings, mooncakes, scallion pancakes, spring rolls, along with drinks like boba milk tea, honey lemon tea, and comforting soups. All cooking materials and ingredients are provided, and each recipe is shared in both Chinese and English to support learning and practice. Participants will also take home the recipes, making it easy to continue exploring Chinese flavors with family and friends.

Description: This will be an hour of skills, drills, and scrimmages for flag football players (or newbies!) of all experience levels. Run by Flag Star's team of positive, high-energy coaches, the kids will get tons of instruction, repetition, competition, and fun! The goals of this program are 'Get Better' and 'Have Fun' and any and all players are welcome to join in. Weekly sessions will review passing routes, defensive tactics, and lots of in-game opportunities to learn and practice the game.

Description: Calling all Middle School guitarists, keyboardists/pianists, drummers, bassists, brass players, and vocalists—Middle School (MS) Rock Band is looking for new members!

Directed by Bullis Brass teacher Ms. Justine Miller, MS Rock Band rehearses every Wednesday from 4:00–5:00 p.m., beginning September 16, 2026, and continues throughout the school year.

Students in MS Rock Band will have multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year. Please note that some sound checks and performances will take place on days other than Wednesdays. Students interested in joining should have at least one (1) year of experience on their instrument and are expected to be taking private lessons on the instrument they will perform with in the ensemble.

Auditions

Auditions for new members will be held on September 16 and December 2. Students should prepare a favorite pop or rock selection to perform for Ms. Miller. After registering, students will receive a time for their informal audition. These auditions help assess each musician's experience level and allow Ms. Miller to select music that is both engaging and appropriately challenging for the ensemble.

What to Bring

Students should bring the following to each rehearsal:

• Their instrument (or voice)
• Cables, drumsticks, and any necessary accessories
• A notebook, staff paper, pencil, or laptop for taking notes

Amplifiers, drum set, microphones, and keyboards will be provided.

Cost for Families: $400 for 8 weeks

Description: This class is designed for both experienced and novice students. Students will be grouped based on their experience and instructed accordingly. An introduction to defensive and offensive tactics, posture, balance, and movement is taught to the beginner fencers. This program will focus on the basics of fencing: focusing on the mental, physical, and strategic aspects of the sport, while providing a good aerobic workout. The modern Olympic sport of fencing, with the long tradition of “swordsmanship”, will be taught by International and Nationally Certified Coach Moniteur D’Armes, Tejav Safai, with close to 53 years of experience as a fencer and a coach.

Equipment usage (rental) is included in the fee. Equipment includes gloves, mask, jacket, and blade.

Description: Tiny Tunes Music Club: Big Music for Little Musicians! Let the music begin! Tiny Tunes Music Club is a fun, nurturing introduction to instrumental music for Bullis students in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade.

In partnership with Bullis Auxiliary Programs and our Private Lesson Program, this Suzuki Method-based program helps young musicians build confidence and musical skills through listening, repetition, encouragement, and lots of fun. In small-group classes, students will explore the flute, violin, viola, or cello with engaging, age-appropriate instruction designed especially for younger learners.

Tiny Tunes Music Club instructors Kathleen Jacobi (flute), Lerna May-Frandsen (violin/viola), Matthew Paiz (cello), and Moriah Swindell (violin) are a team of experienced, enthusiastic instructors who give young musicians the opportunity to discover the joy of making music in a supportive, encouraging environment. 

Whether your child is discovering an instrument for the first time or already has a love for music, Tiny Tunes Music Club is the perfect place to discover, create, and perform together!
