Amnesty Human Rights Club is a space for young people to join the movement for human rights.

Delve into astrophotography, examine variable stars, track the International Space Station, and build simple telescopes. This club includes a range of outdoor activities with examinations of the night sky.

Bullis also has a campus-wide Solar System that is a scale model of the solar system as it was on December 31, 1930, the year Bullis School was founded.

Biology Club is a community for students interested in the biological sciences to gather and exchange ideas and to learn more about their field of interest and to socialize with others who share those interests.

The Bullis Black Student Union (BSU) is an organization dedicated to encouraging cultural diversity at Bullis School and strive for cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of all of our diverse histories and experiences. BSU is committed to intellectual, cultural, social and ethnic diversity. The BSU's focus is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness about being an African American in today's society.

Students in this club focus on organizing the “Dog Pound" and raising spirit for various activities and games.

Bullis Bakers club is an open environment where all members share a love for baking and can exchange personal recipes. Students share interests with others who are also passionate about baking.

Students with a love of animals plan fundraisers for local shelters, raise awareness, and volunteer with various animal rescue organizations.

Business Gives Back's mission is to inspire young leaders to become future entrepreneurs while doing good in the world.

The Bullis Chess Club allows students to play friendly chess games against their peers in a low-stress environment. The club combines educational and social activities where members come to play, learn, teach, and get together with old friends and make new ones. Students of all levels are welcome.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs to be college and career ready in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

E-Sports (electronic sports) takes video gaming to another level with organized competitive gameplay between teams, governed by its own set of rules and guidelines. E-Sports requires teamwork, communication, critical and strategic thinking, creativity, sportsmanship, and leadership — much like traditional sports.

Students advocate for equality in education in developing countries. We work to strengthen schools, improve girls’ leadership, and build capacities of communities so that girls and women can access quality education and livelihood options.

Bullis's Families4Families (F4F) chapter's mission is to empower people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to attain stable housing and rebuild their lives. The chapter provides groceries and other essential items that their nonprofit partner requests on behalf of their families.

Students gather to celebrate and learn of traditional foods from a variety of cultures. Club meetings include informative sessions on the background of these traditional dishes as well as tastings.

InLight is a student-led magazine for dialogue that explores cultures, lifts student voices, and illuminates injustices through artistic expression. Submissions are welcome from any student.

Students compete in contests requiring rapid recall in art, history, literature, mathematics and science. Students compete against other schools and also appear on the “It’s Academic” television show.

KEEN’s mission is “to empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun, led by volunteer coaches.” Students volunteer their time every other Sunday. There is a selection process.

The goal of the Latino Heritage Club is to spread cultural awareness on our campus, create a community among our Latino population, and to encourage the students to build and reinforce a positive ethnic identity.

Logos is the Upper School journal of art and literature and is published annually. Submissions of poetry, prose and artwork are welcome from any student.

Students become diplomats and meet with other school delegations to discuss international relations, current events and the United Nations agenda. Participants learn how to negotiate treaties, debate issues, and present solutions.

The Photography Club promotes creativity through photography, shares and analyzes photographs, educates and improves technical skills, and spreads the love of photography throughout the community. This is a group for anyone with an interest in photography to meet and exchange ideas and share experiences.

The Bullis Math Club seeks to further explore the beauty of mathematics and challenges itself with problems that stretch mathematical thinking. Each year, members participate in mathematics competitions and attend math symposiums when offered.

PRISM club aims to provide a safe and supportive place for LGBTQIA+ students and allies by creating a community of support and acceptance for all individuals.

This club analyzes ethics and controversy behind critical calls and issues that arise in the sports world.

The goal of UNICEF Club is to help children, mainly in third world countries, gain access to education, immunizations, clean water and emergency relief through fundraising and raising awareness of their struggles in the Bullis community. Club activities include organizing fundraisers and participating in UNICEF events like Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.

Women in STEM (WiSTEM) supports women in all fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We aim to provide a safe space, networking opportunities, mentorship, STEM panels, and participate in competitions that empower individuals to pursue their passion in STEM. The club also helps bridge the gap between social justice and academic fields by providing equality and representation in STEM fields through concrete action.

Develop skills for professional life and leadership.

Each year our 8th grade students have the opportunity to partner with a 4th grader or two. The 8th grade students work with the 4th grade teachers to design educational and fun activities. The 4th grade students enjoy the support and friendship and the 8th grade students get hands-on leadership experience.

Do you like watching things fly through the air? Ever wonder how far into Outer Space we can really travel or what makes things go up and stay in space and other objects fall back to earth?

In this club students build vehicles to see how high, how fast or how quickly their speed changes. They also get a chance to experiment with movement and propulsion of all sorts of people and vehicles, from bikes to trains and rockets. The club will also witness a real rocket launched into space at NASA’s Wallops Island, Virginia National Test Range.

Learn American Sign Language and discover deaf culture. Students with different levels of sign language knowledge are welcome to learn basics and simple phrases.

Students will select books to read together and discuss. We also participate in other literacy projects such as reading to younger children, collecting books to donate, chat with visiting Skype authors and plan group trips to local literary events. The group is also involved in creating library contests, incentives and events for the Middle School.

All levels of Middle School students learn and compete. It's a lot of fun, learning and competition!

“It is better to debate a question without settling it, than to settle a question without debating it.” The Middle School Debate Club develops your ability to argue persuasively on current controversial issues. Whether you already enjoy discussing tough questions or you would like to improve this skill, you are welcome.

Speaking skills are as important as writing skills. Being able to argue will help you in many middle and upper school classes. Students choose each topic, divide into two sides, do some research, and argue. Other club members score the debate and decide a winner. Roles will rotate week to week. There is no homework.

This club brings together all students who share a love of horses and who would like to learn more about our equine companions. The students each trimester choose the topics of interest, from such topics as horse behavior, horse care, riding disciplines, training, tack and more.

The Middle School Diversity Club welcomes all students to meet, discuss, and have their voices heard. Through thought-provoking activities and discussions, students will explore what diversity means to a middle schooler and how diversity awareness and understanding can have a positive impact on the community. Most activities will be student-driven to create a school where all feel welcome and valued.

Students explore and learn about what it really means to be an entrepreneur. They study start-up company examples to better understand what entrepreneurs do when they have an idea for a product or service and want to bring it to market. Guest speakers share their experiences and students use teamwork to think of a new way of solving an identified problem and come up with a business plan.

Ethos, the Middle School student e-newsletter showcases current events and interesting stories from Middle School. Students determine the content and handle all reporting and writing and production to be the voice of the Middle School community and keep all students and parents up-to-date about activities, events, teachers and classes. The club also is responsible for the Middle School section of Roll Call, Bullis’ yearbook.

Everyday Technologies looks at how much of what we rely on in our everyday lives came to be: from electricity, clean water, telephone, cell phone, computer games, television, to the internet and more. Students will explore history and discuss what the future might bring, making presentations and working in groups.

Let’s get outside while the weather is good and explore the natural areas of the Bullis campus. Look for and identify flora and fauna that live on campus. When the weather changes, we’ll choose some other things to explore indoors. What we choose to explore is up to the group!

Club members explore a variety of genres and discuss literary and theatrical aspects of film.

Talk about what an entrepreneur is and learn about women who are or were very successful entrepreneurs, including Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Sandberg, Arianna Huffington, Martha Stewart, Coco Chanel, Elizabeth Arden, and more. Learn how they got started and the characteristics that made them successful. Students also discuss the life and finance skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur.

Sixth Grade students have the opportunity to plant and cultivate a plot in the School garden. Each week the students plan, seed, weed and maintain the land. They also select the plants to cultivate from pumpkins to lettuce and tomatoes. Some of the vegetables are harvested for the Dining Hall.

Each year Bullis participates in a month-long competition around Earth Day to increase our recycling, reduce energy consumption and reuse materials. Bullis competes against area independent schools, charting energy reduction. Middle School students manage the competition and gather data on results on a weekly basis. They also create assemblies designed to change behaviors and increase awareness.

The Bullis Green club helps Bullis be a greener school. We will the School’s participation in the Green Cup Recycling Challenge, a national competition to increase environmental awareness, and set up other competitions of Blue vs. Gold inside our campus to become a green school leader by improving recycling, saving paper, reducing trash, and saving energy and money. The club also explores the natural areas on around campus to explore how to support our resident wildlife.

In turbulent economic times, financial literacy is more important than ever. Through the Investing Club, students will learn how to develop good personal finance habits and de-mystify the stock market.

Middle School Jazz Band is open to instrumentalists interested in pursuing the study of jazz music. Focusing on learning a wide range of fun music and developing improvisation skills, the club will also perform during the school year, including with the Upper School at several Bullis Jazz Cafes.

A fun time for students who love math to conquer math facts, play math games and explore math concepts.

Roleplay as delegates to the United Nations to simulate UN committees as academic competitions. Students learn about diplomacy and international relations through research, public speaking, writing, debate and critical thinking. Students also attend middle school Model UN conferences.

Ever wonder how to make a shelter or what to do if you’re caught in a thunderstorm? Outdoor Ed teaches that and more! Learn how to keep safe in the outdoors through basic wilderness first aid, how to identify edible plants, map reading and more.

Members explore geography, vocabulary and expressions, and festivals and conduct research to learn all about Spanish-speaking countries, people and their cultures.

Enhance your success in middle school (and the future!) by learning basic study and organizational skills.

Send well wishes to school community members when positive or negative events impact their lives. The club’s goal is to spread some cheer to students and staff via birthday wishes, congratulations or sympathy cards, and welcoming new students and staff.

In a digital world, many of today’s newspapers are transitioning away from the paper product or adding digital components. The Bullis Middle School paper has done that as well. Instead of a paper product, students create videos and slide shows about school events, learning filming, editing and sound techniques.
