Matt Palmer '02

Matt Palmer is an exceptional wrestler who left an indelible mark on the Bullis wrestling program. In just three years, Matt captured 136 wins, was a three-time IAC champion and a National Prep champion.
As a freshman, Matt was named to the first team All-Met by The Washington Post after winning the IAC (where he was named Most Outstanding Wrestler) and St. Albans tournaments and placing second at the National Prep tournament. Matt also captured the Maryland Independent Schools Championship title, where he was named Most Outstanding Wrestler, and that year he earned Gazette Co-Wrestler of the Year honors. During both his sophomore and junior seasons, Matt again won the IAC title, was MISC Champion, captured the second place title at the National Prep Tournament and was also named Gazette Co-Wrestler of the Year. Additionally, Matt was also a three-time Maryland Independent School Champion.
Matt attended Columbia University, where he was the only wrestler to ever be a two-time All-American, and he built a career overall record of 87-26 and 17-1 in the Ivy League. Matt's college accolades also include first team All-Ivy League honors, eighth place at the NCAA Championships, first place at the New York State Championships, was named to the All-Rookie Team by Amateur Wrestling News, and was ranked fourth in the nation before competing in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships where he placed third.
Matt received an honorable mention from the Maryland State Wrestling Association in its list of the All-Time Greatest Maryland Wrestlers.
