Dear Bullis School Community,
Congratulations to those families who will be recognizing graduating seniors in the next several weeks! We would like to update you on the Head of School search; with the school year rapidly coming to a close, we want to be sure that you are aware that the Search Committee has been working with our consultants, Carney Sandoe. We are right on schedule.
We had a very robust response to our announcement of the Head of School position, and our search consultants have been in contact with over 100 prospective candidates. Most recently, the Search Committee met for a formal review of the current candidate pool, which includes a number of highly qualified and diverse candidates. After several hours of deliberation, a smaller group of outstanding candidates was thereby chosen to move forward in the search, and we will be engaging with those candidates according to our predetermined process in the months ahead.
At this stage and through the summer, the identities of the candidates remain very confidential due to their need to continue working effectively in their own school communities. As we noted earlier, our plans are to bring finalists to campus soon after school opens for the 2019-2020 year so that members of our school community can meet them and share their impressions with the Committee.
Our candidates hail from all around the country, and have been attracted to this opportunity because of Bullis School's national reputation for excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts. Because of your commitment to excellence, we are attracting the best of the best to vie to serve as our next Head of School.
In a further update, Kerry Wisnosky recently stepped down as Search Committee Chair after doing a fabulous job of organizing the process and selecting our consultant. The members of the Search Committee, Paula Widerlite, and I have been working very closely with Kerry throughout, and so Paula and I will serve as Co-Chairs of the Search Committee the rest of the way. The transition has been seamless.
The Search Committee is committed to getting the very best result for Bullis from this process, and we are very excited and encouraged about our current pool. Thank you again for your trust and support of the Search Committee as we execute this important mission.
