Potomac Chamber of Commerce named Bullis student Katelyn Foreman '19
Each year, the Potomac Chamber of Commerce honors four local Potomac residents who personally help to make their community a better, stronger, more wonderful place to live by lending their time, talents, resources, and more. This year, the Chamber of Commerce named Bullis student Katelyn Foreman '19 as Potomac Youth of the Year, recognizing her unique accomplishments, her leadership, and her many contributions to her local community as well as to the Bullis community.
Katelyn handles the demands of a rigorous curricular and extracurricular schedule with ease and dedication. A busy student active in Bullis student organizations and a dancer who trains and performs, she also volunteers for organizations that are special to her. In addition to regular studies, she takes Honors and Advanced Placement courses, and is a Student Government representative, helping to advocate the needs of her classmates. As a member of the Bullis Student Tutors program, Katelyn tutors younger students in several subjects, and helps promote and communicate on behalf of the student tutoring program. She is also involved in UNICEF and Booster Club, and volunteers with senior citizens by teaching them to dance.
Both in school and outside of it, Katelyn is a dancer who devotes many hours each week to extra training and to classes in the Bullis dance program. Dancing since her pre-school years, she is now an accomplished performer who spends summers in workshops with renowned dancers and was selected to perform a solo dance at the Kennedy Center for National Dance Day. Her latest honor reaches beyond dance by acknowledging all that she brings to her school and her community.
"I am both honored and humbled to be this year's Potomac Youth of the Year," Katelyn says. "My time at Bullis has allowed me to become the best version of myself, and I am so proud to represent Bullis in this honor." Her teachers and counselors especially note Katelyn's leadership abilities and her caring qualities. "Katelyn senses how to bring out the best in others and always rises to the occasion," says Director of College Counseling Lynn Kittel. "She is a natural born leader who is a perfect example of someone who can be successful at all she attempts, and yet remain humble, at ease, and relatable."
Bullis School congratulates Katelyn Foreman on being named Potomac Youth of the Year! The 30th annual Potomac Day celebration will be held in Potomac Village on Saturday, October 20, hosted by the Potomac Chamber of Commerce. The event includes games, petting zoo, activities, and the traditional parade.
