Student Profiles

Nela ’23

I’m a Bullis lifer. I started here in 3rd grade (even though now the Lifers start in kindergarten!)

Of all of our subjects, I love math and understanding how it works and how it’s needed in everyday life. It’s fun to solve problems—whether they’re hard or easy, it’s always fun.

I also really love art—especially sculpting and painting. In art, you have to really focus on what you’re working on, so it’s a chance to block out other things and really dive into the work. One recent assignment we had was to create “superbugs.” Mine was a peacacorn, half peacock and half unicorn!

I’ve been playing soccer since 1st grade and love it. I love running in general, but when you add a soccer ball it makes it much more interesting! I also played lacrosse for the first time last year at Bullis and have made lots of friends through that.

I was in the Middle School musical “Peter Pan”—I played Patches, one of the lost boys. It was fun dancing and getting into the characters. I also love to sing, and participated in Glee Club and sang “Cups” from the movie “Pitch Perfect” with Victoria in the Middle School Talent Show.

The teachers here are really nice and helpful. They really want you to understand and never give up on you.

The kids are really nice, too. I’ve made lots of friends and they’re caring and helpful. The kids here always make you feel better if you’re feeling sad. New kids are welcomed right away into the community.

I like that there are so many activities here to choose from. I may play golf this year!
