Lower School Principal
Thanks for your interest in Kindergarten through 2nd grade in the Bullis Lower School. Starting in the early years allows our students to immediately become part of the Bullis community which can become your child's second home all the way through 12th grade.
Bullis is the only independent school in the DC metro area that has students of all grades on one campus. This affords even our youngest students the same facilities as our oldest students, as well as the opportunity for them to connect with older role models. At the same time, we know that our youngest students have very different needs, emotionally, socially and academically, than their older counterparts and as such our program offers them a very tailored experience that will provide support, development and confidence-building to take on the challenges and embrace the opportunities that await them at Bullis in the years ahead.
Come for a tour and please visit this page to learn more about what we think makes our Lower School so special in the D.C. area.
Before you apply, parents are welcome to take a group tour. Lower School tours are held on select days at 9:00 a.m.throughout the month. Please call 301-983-5724 to register for a tour, as spaces are limited.
The application for the 2018-2019 school year will be available on September 1, 2017. Applications for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are due by January 5, 2018.
We will tour and interview as many applicant families to grades K-2 as we can, but the calendar fills up quickly. Please call the Admission Office at 301-983-5724 after you have submitted your online pre-application to schedule a parent tour and interview. You will visit a class during your tour.
Applicants to Bullis for grades K-5 are required to have either a WPPSI-IV (K-1) or WISC-V (2-5) evaluation completed by an outside test center. The Admission Office is happy to provide you with the name of a tester in your area. Please contact the office directly if you need testing information.
After submitting your application, you should also schedule a visit for your child on one of these two dates: Saturday, December 9, 2017 or Saturday, January 20, 2018.
Students will play in small groups for observation and assessment. You will be given a time at the time you register for this visit.
Using the application user ID and password you can check the status of your application. All families are expected to follow the status of their child’s application online in the application portal. Please check this regularly to ensure that your forms have been received and your application file is complete before the application deadline.
