Fast-pitch softball has become one of the world’s most popular sports among female athletes. This all-skill camp emphasizes proper techniques for throwing, catching, hitting, windmill pitching, base running, sliding, game strategy, and more. Beginner- to intermediate-level campers build camaraderie and enjoy team competitions and games. This camp is designed to promote a love of softball while developing a player’s skills!
Director: Stephen Patswald is the Bullis Middle School softball coach as well as the assistant softball coach for the Upper School varsity and junior varsity softball teams. Coach Patswald started as the Girls Softball camp director in 2016. He retired after 22 years with the Frederick Police Department and was an instructor for the Frederick Police Academy, volunteering his time by coaching in local organizations in the Germantown area for the last 15 years.
Coach Patswald has coached baseball with the American Legion Post 295, Advanced Baseball Concepts and the Mid-Atlantic Bayhawks showcase baseball program. He has also coached travel softball for three years with the Red Raider softball organization and is currently coaching a local softball team within the Maryland Heat organization. Coach Patswald believes in encouraging players, providing positive experiences of the game and teaching younger players core fundamentals necessary to elevate a player's potential. He focuses on teaching basic, foundational skills of the game from hitting and base running to defensive positions and plays.
