Handwork: Machine Sewing

Developed with independence and personal design choice in mind, campers begin each week by choosing from projects found in our favorite book Sewing in a Straight Line by Brett Bara. Campers are taught how to read and use a wide variety of Simplicity Creative Group patterns which may include pajamas, hoodies, skirts, quilts, bags, dresses, and more! While creating their projects, campers learn about measuring, pinning, cutting, and machine sewing techniques from expert staff. In addition to producing a fashion show on the last day of each session for family and friends, campers are invited to come back each week to improve their machine sewing skills and challenge themselves with the latest fashions.

Provider: The Handwork Studio is a kids’ needle arts and fashion community, teaching practical arts such as knitting, crocheting, hand and machine sewing (thehandworkstudio.com).
