Two Bullis Juniors Advance to Maryland History Day Competition

Even in a challenging year, history advances! Congratulations to Bullis Juniors who researched and created incredible exhibits on the theme of "Communication in History: The Key to Understanding" for National History Day.

Several Bullis students recently competed in Montgomery County History Day. Among 394 students competing from 42 schools, two Bullis students are advancing to the State level competition.

Ethan Segerman '22 took first place for his exhibit on P.T. Barnum and the Circus "A Circus of Communication".

Special thanks are owed to our amazing Bullis social studies and history faculty, Kristin Kowalew, Tim Hanson, Bill McGowan, Kim Worthy, and Sara Romeyn! This is our 11th year participating.

We look forward to Bullis participation in Maryland History Day in May.

About Montgomery County History Day

The National History Day Competition is a transformative learning experience for middle and high school students in which they learn about history hands-on by creating projects centered around a theme; in 2021, it is “Communication in History–The Key to Understanding.” Through months of research using primary and secondary sources, students create and present a presentation in one of five formats: paper, exhibit, documentary, performance, or website. This year the competition is taking place entirely online.
