Among the honorees, three students earned Exhibitor status, while three additional students were named Runner-Up selections. All six works were selected from a competitive pool of submissions representing high school students across Maryland’s Eighth Congressional District.

The three Exhibitors artwork will be displayed in Founders Hall at Bullis through June 1. The remaining three recognized pieces will be exhibited in Representative Raskin’s district offices for one year, providing public visibility for student work across the district.

Each spring, the Congressional Art Competition brings together student artists from across the nation in a program sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The initiative highlights exceptional artistic talent among high school students and provides opportunities for public exhibition at both the district and national levels.

This year’s entries were evaluated by a panel of independent judges from Maryland’s Eighth District. Selected works were featured in a regional exhibition at VisArts in Rockville, Maryland, where one first-place winner is chosen to represent the district in the U.S. Capitol for one year, alongside winning works from across the country.

Harriet Polun, Director of Arts, praised the achievement, noting:

“Having six students selected for the competition is an impressive accomplishment, and it reflects the talent of our student artists and the guidance that Ms. Kathleen Adams and the team provide every day. Each piece is as unique as the artist who created it, and together they represent the creativity and individuality that make our Visual Arts program so special.”

Congratulations to all six students on this outstanding achievement and well-deserved recognition.
