On Saturday, September 6, the Bullis community gathered to celebrate a milestone in the School’s history—the grand opening of The Sandi Family Lower School, a purpose-built home for our youngest learners and a powerful investment in the future of Bullis.
During this special celebration, Bullis proudly announced that Emine and Rubar Sandi, parents of Jack ’25 and Jake ’32, made a transformational gift to the Elevating Excellence Campaign, ensuring that the new Lower School would carry their family’s name. Their extraordinary generosity reflects both deep gratitude for Bullis and a clear vision for what learning can and should be.
Designed with intention and inspired by how children learn best, The Sandi Family Lower School offers an environment where curiosity, creativity, and connection flourish. Since opening its doors to students on September 2, the building has been filled with energy, movement, and discovery. Flexible, light-filled classrooms support collaboration and hands-on learning, while dedicated science and outdoor learning spaces invite exploration beyond the traditional classroom walls.
Students are already making the most of specialized spaces designed just for them: vibrant art and music rooms that encourage creative expression; a fully equipped makerspace where ideas come to life through tinkering and design; a welcoming, student-centered library that nurtures a love of reading and research; and a dynamic multipurpose space that supports movement, gatherings, and joyful community moments. Throughout the building, thoughtful design elements promote wellness, independence, and engagement—creating an atmosphere that feels both inspiring and age-appropriate.
The Sandis gave with both purpose and foresight, seeking to make an immediate impact on today’s students while creating a lasting legacy for generations of Bullis learners to come. Their gift elevates the Lower School experience and strengthens the foundation of a Bullis education from the very beginning.
The opening of The Sandi Family Lower School represents more than a new facility—it stands as a testament to the power of generosity, partnership, and shared belief in the transformative role of education. Bullis is profoundly grateful to the Sandi family for helping shape this remarkable new chapter in the School’s history.
