Head of School Briefing: October 16, 2020

Dear Bullis Community,

Twenty minutes ago, I received the news that every one of the 903 students and faculty members who were tested for COVID-19 this week was negative.

The additional numbers this time, compared to the three previous testing regimes, reflects the increase in students who are choosing to be educated on campus, and are therefore being tested. The total testing results are as follows:

  • August 26: 862 tests. 4 Positive
  • September 14: 868 tests. 0 Positive
  • September 30: 882 tests. 1 Positive. (The one person subsequently had 2 negative tests.)
  • October 16: 903 tests. 0 Positive

Many thanks to the students, teachers and families who are following the protocols and keeping everyone safe – not just those who are at school every day, but vulnerable family members and friends too who need to stay more isolated. Well done!

The aggregated test positivity rate at Bullis is 5/3514 = 0.0014%. The current test positivity rate in Montgomery County of 2.42% illustrates that we do need to keep our defenses up. Please don’t become complacent.

Have a great weekend. #BullisStrong!

Warmly,

Christian G. Sullivan
