Bullis Wins UDC Capital Cup Entrepreneurship Competition for the Third Consecutive Year
In an inspiring show of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, Bullis seniors from the class of 2025, Evan K., Noah M., and Eric Z. claimed the top prize at the 2024 UDC Capital Cup Entrepreneurship Competition, marking a historic third consecutive win for Bullis students in this esteemed contest. The triumphant team, known as Team Debate Minds, stood out among more than fifty competitors, showcasing their groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering underserved youth through the art of debate.
The University of the District of Columbia's annual event, which invites high school students from across America to compete, has become a significant platform for young entrepreneurs to present their business ideas. This year, four academic business professors rigorously assessed the qualifying teams, narrowing down the fierce competition to just five teams for the finals. On August 8, 2024, Team Debate Minds and their peers presented their projects to a panel of industry experts from the DC Chamber of Commerce.
Team Debate Minds’ winning project is an innovative startup that seeks to teach debate skills to underserved youth while also providing them with political education and access to insights from key societal figures. Their mission is to give students the tools to have conversations with one another on contentious topics, expand their perspectives, and strive to solve the problem of today's polarized society.
Expressing their gratitude and excitement, Evan K., Noah M., and Eric Z. said, "The team is honored to win the UDC Capital Cup Entrepreneurship Competition, which inspires us to continue pursuing our passions in entrepreneurship and working toward a better future. We are more motivated than ever to continue our work on our podcast, the 'Business Speaks Podcast,' the Business Club at Bullis, and other endeavors to educate others on all things business."
The victory not only places Bullis in the spotlight for fostering young entrepreneurial talent but also highlights the importance of innovation in addressing social issues. As these young leaders look to the future, their journey from the classrooms of Bullis to the stage of the UDC Capital Cup serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs everywhere.
