Bullis Capstone Students Explore Real-World Entrepreneurship at Union Kitchen in D.C.

Earlier this month, Bullis seniors in the Entrepreneurship Capstone program took an inspiring field trip to Union Kitchen in Washington, D.C. The timing was perfect, as students had recently developed teams to create their own businesses over the upcoming year. This visit offered them a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how a successful business operates.

Union Kitchen is a food accelerator dedicated to helping chefs and entrepreneurs bring their products—like chips and energy bites—to store shelves locally and nationally. During their visit, students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the office and kitchens, gaining insights into the daily operations that fuel this innovative business.

The experience featured a presentation delivered by Pablo Bravo Olle from Union Kitchen, who emphasized several key aspects crucial for budding entrepreneurs: branding, marketing, and market research. These elements are vital for establishing a strong presence in the competitive food industry. Pablo’s insights highlighted the significance of a solid business concept and sparked ideas in the students as they brainstormed potential projects for their capstone.

As the trip progressed, the seniors were treated to a delectable tasting session featuring a variety of offerings produced on-site, from bagels and pizza to assorted chips and snacks.
