Bullis Students Raise $247,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Bullis students raise $247K for LLS

This year, Bullis had three incredible teams participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year campaign, a seven-week fundraising challenge benefitting LLS's mission of curing blood cancers.

  1. Team Bulldogs Against Blood Cancer (Class of 2025) raised over $30,000. Team led by Rebecca E. and Taylor R. with the support of their team members Isabelle H., Karla K., Jacob L., Reese N., and Liv P.
  2. Team Hope for Hannah raised over $33,000. Team member Ben J. '23.
  3. Team Ensure the Cure (Class of 2024) raised over $183,000. Team led by Kenadi C., Kendal C., and Grace M. with the support of their dedicated team members Skylar A., Alexa B., Darin B., Nathan C., Ashley H., Noor M., Darryn M., Cami M., Hailey R., Paige R., Samantha T., Darian W., and Shara Z..

At the LLS Grand Finale Celebration, the final totals were tallied, and collectively Bullis School raised $247,000. This amazing contribution to the LLS mission earned Team Ensure the Cure two Top Fundraiser Awards. Also, team leaders Kenadi C. '24, Kendal C. '24, Rebecca E. '25, Grace M. '24, and Taylor R. '25 have been accepted as candidates in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2022 Students of the Year campaign. Each student participating in the Washington DC scholarship and fundraising challenge has been nominated for their exceptional leadership, passion to find a cure for blood cancers and involvement in the community.

It is safe to say these students have set the bar very high for future students and set an example for this campaign on a national level. This generation of visionaries stood up in the fight against cancer. I was continually impressed with the team as well as the incredible support they received from their school and peers.

This group is filled with bright, insightful, imaginative, compassionate, and dedicated students who truly understand the spirit of "giving back" and helping others. I have no doubt that these wonderful qualities are reinforced by the amazing teachers and administration at Bullis School every day. I have every confidence that these students have a bright future ahead of them.

Allison Courtney, LLS Campaign Development Director, Students of the Year

All participating teams collectively raised more than $3.6 million for LLS, setting a new national record! This tremendous total will help pave the way for new cancer research and treatments. Since 2015, Bullis has donated over $1.1 million to LLS.

Please join us in congratulating these young philanthropic visionaries and their team members on their remarkable success!

About The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Students of the Year campaign

Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program during which students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer. The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidates in each community who raises the most funds during the competition.
