Bullis Entrepreneurs Revive DECA Club and Finds Success at Regional Competition

This year, the Bullis Business Club has taken on an exciting new direction, thanks to the leadership of Director of Entrepreneurship Caryn Rossiter and her students. While Bullis has had a DECA club in the past, it never actively participated in competitions or activities. Ms. Rossiter approached club leaders Sloane Levine '25 and Jordan Schulman '25 with her enthusiasm for revitalizing DECA, and together they reimagined the Business Club to include DECA as a key focus. The restructured club now features branches in marketing, financial services, sports and event marketing, and more, working together toward goals like participating in DECA competitions. The club even held a bake sale to fund membership fees and marketed the competitions, which led to 16 students signing up for Bullis’ first-ever DECA regional competition.

At the regional competition, Bullis students participated in both individual and team events. Competitors were tasked with analyzing real-world business scenarios, preparing solution proposals in just ten minutes, and pitching their ideas to expert judges. Sloane and Jordan led the way with an impressive first-place finish in the Entrepreneurship Team Decision-Making category. They earned top scores not only in performance indicators but also in 21st-century skills like problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.

Bullis’ Entrepreneurship Signature Program equips students with analytical, creative, and practical skills through a carefully designed curriculum, real-world opportunities to pitch and test ideas, expert mentorship, and student-driven initiatives. With the Maryland State DECA Competition coming up on February 7, Sloane and Jordan will compete again, representing Bullis as the program continues to inspire and prepare the next generation of business leaders.
