A Trimester of Service - Fall 2024
Bullis kicked off the 2024-2025 academic year with a strong commitment to community service, engaging students across all grades in meaningful activities.
On September 6, 10th-grade students launched the trimester’s efforts with volunteer work at organizations like DC Central Kitchen, A Wider Circle, and Bread for the City. Later that month, Team Bullis marked its 10th consecutive year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Washington, D.C. The school’s focus on community impact deepened on October 16, when middle schoolers prepared breakfasts for a local men’s shelter and assembled over 100 hygiene kits after hearing inspiring talks from homelessness advocates.
As October progressed, Bullis students and families demonstrated their passion for making a difference. They took part in the Race for Every Child to support Children’s National, with parents and students running together. The month also featured efforts like the Hurricane Relief Drive and leadership from the Upper School's Families for Families club, which organizes regular drives for those in need. Not to be outdone, the Middle School Service Learning Leadership Club prepared meals for Shepherd’s Table and the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, illustrating our younger students’ eagerness to serve.
November brought a flurry of impactful initiatives as always, culminating in the spirit of Thanksgiving with our 29th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive and Pie Bake. The Middle and Upper Schools joined forces to host a bake sale, raising over $800 for World Central Kitchen to aid flood victims in Spain. The Middle School National Junior Honor Society sorted Thanksgiving baskets, ensuring holiday cheer reaches those in need. From organizing drives to baking pies, Bullis students showed how service can bring people together and create lasting change. The first trimester’s efforts highlight the Bullis community's vibrant culture of giving back, inspiring a sense of purpose among students, faculty, and families alike.
