Graduation Update

Dear Seniors and Parents,

I am writing to provide updates and exciting news about graduation week. While this year has made it necessary to forgo certain events and programs, we are happy to be able to offer three culminating events to our seniors, faculty, and of course families. These events are outlined below and I ask that you read carefully as there is important information about timing and numbers of guests. Additional details around expectations such as mask wearing, health screenings, parking, etc. will be provided at a later date. We felt it was important to share this information as soon as we confirmed it.

Senior Supper

Seniors and Faculty

On Wednesday, June 2, at 5:30 pm, students and faculty will gather on the Bullis campus to share stories, memories, and laughs. We will also hear from one student speaker and one faculty speaker as chosen by the senior class. All seniors are expected to attend.

Student Attire: Students should plan to dress in button-down shirt, tie, and slacks (jackets are not required and shorts are not permitted). Sundresses are also a common choice for students.

  • 5:30 pm - Reception
  • 6:00 pm - Call to Dinner and Speeches
  • 7:15 pm - Closing of program

Graduation Rehearsal and Senior Awards

Seniors, Family Members, and Faculty

On Friday, June 4, at 1:00 pm, students will gather in Kline Alumni Stadium for rehearsal. This is mandatory for all seniors; any student who is absent cannot participate in graduation the next day. Students will be provided an early dinner (3:45 pm) in advance of the senior awards program. Each graduate may have two guests accompany them at the awards program. Seniors and their two guests will be seated in the stadium in their graduation seats. The awards program will begin promptly at 4:30 pm and should last approximately 90 minutes.

Student attire: Dark dress slacks, white button-down, tie, (no jacket required) or a light colored dress, white blouse, skirt or dark slacks and appropriate dress shoes (no flip flops, sneakers, etc).

  • 1:00 pm - Rehearsal

Commencement

Seniors, Family Members, and Faculty

On Saturday, June 5, we will celebrate the Class of 2021 with our Commencement ceremony in Kline Alumni Stadium. Each family may have a maximum of five guests accompany their graduate. We ask that you plan to arrive at 8:30 am. Once arriving, we ask that guests move directly to their assigned seats. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 am and will last approximately 90 minutes. We will have professional photographers on hand to take pictures of your graduate as they receive their diploma and afterward.

Student attire: Dark dress slacks, white button-down, tie, (no jacket required) or a white dress/ white blouse, skirt or dark slacks and appropriate dress shoes (no flip flops, sneakers, etc).

Ceremony Livestream: The Commencement ceremony will be Livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.

Class of 2021 Graduation will be livestreamed

Graduation week is always a special time on our campus as we prepare to say goodbye and good luck to our senior class. In a year of uncertainty, I am grateful we are now in a position to hold these seminal events on our campus and celebrate together.

We will send out an RSVP form next week to all families so we can have an accurate count of those planning to attend. If you have specific questions or concerns about the events, please contact our Advancement Office: Director of Advancement and External affairs, Sharon Kessler (Sharon_kessler@bullis.org) or Director of Events and Alumni Engagement, Laura Tsampas (laura_tsampas@bullis.org)

Very Respectfully,

Robert J. Pollicino
Head of Upper School
