I'm a Senior and this is my fourth year here.

What classes have you most enjoyed at Bullis and why?

One of my favorite classes was Music Theory with Mr. Johnson. Last year I took Music Theory as an independent study course, there was only me and another student in the class. It was a really unique experience for me, since only having two students in class is really different. I loved this class because I was able to further explore my passion in music and learn music theory to a deeper level. Mr. Johnson was really helpful to me and guided me and supported me in learning and composing my own music.

What activities do you participate in at Bullis?

One of the main activities I participate in at Bullis is concert band and jazz workshop. Being a part of our school band was a great experience, all of the band members are very welcoming and my teachers are also very kind and helpful. There are also numerous concerts and shows involving many of our bands and groups each year, and those are really fun and memorable.

What are you most passionate about and why?

I'm most passionate about music, both playing music and composing music. I've spent a large portion of my time in high school learning music theory and practicing playing. I enjoy playing with my fellow band members, as well as conducting the band to play one of my compositions.

What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?

One of the global problems I've been focusing on is the protection of traditional music/arts. I've produced a documentary series on traditional Chinese music, with the goal of spreading them to a greater audience and contributing to their preservation in the modern world.

What do you like most about the Bullis community?

I love how Bullis allows its students to freely pursue their passion, whether it be academically, in the sports, in the arts, or any other fields. No matter what you want to do, Bullis will always support you. And in most cases, the school will even provide you with teachers and other resources to help you out on your journey.
