Trip: Marine Research in the Bahamas

Teacher(s): Dr. Celeste McDaniels and Ms. Laura Nutter
Come to the Bahamas and assist scientists in their research on coral reefs, sharks, turtles, and the island’s conservation efforts. Explore the struggles between fishery demands and sustainability. Students will have the opportunity to practice science in the field through their surveys of the vast biodiversity in the ocean and collecting data while snorkeling in the reefs. Students will study pertinent environmental issues facing The Bahamas, and core research and sustainable systems design initiatives implemented by the Cape Eleuthera Institute. In addition to assisting the Cape Eleuthera Institute scientists, students will also have a chance to explore the beautiful nature on Eleuthera island.
