Follow these step-by-step instructions to apply to the Lower School Grades K-2.
Begin the application process by clicking "apply online' to set up an account in the Admission Portal. This initiates an application inquiry.
You will receive an email confirmation with instructions to:
a. Confirm your account.
b. Submit your application. You must submit your application by the deadline.
We will tour and interview as many applicant families to Lower School as we can, but the calendar fills up quickly.
Please call the Admission Office at 301-983-5724 after you have submitted your online admission inquiry to schedule your interview and tour while classes are in session.
Shadow Visits: While we do not provide shadow visits in our Lower School, prospective Lower School students may see the classrooms in session during a tour with their parents.
Accepted students will be invited to spend time in a classroom with students in the spring after they receive their decisions.
If you submit an application after the deadline, interview times may not be available.
Applicants to Bullis for grades K-5 are required to have either a WPPSI-IV (K-1) or WISC-V (2-5) evaluation completed by an outside test center. The Admission Office is happy to provide you with the name of a tester in your area.
Please contact the office directly if you need testing information.
During your scheduled tour and interview, your child will take an informal assessment of his/her current academic knowledge in reading, comprehension and writing.
Using the Admission Portal application user ID and password you can check the status of your application. All families are expected to follow the status of their child’s application online in the Admission Portal.
Please check this regularly to ensure that your forms have been received and your application file is complete before the application deadline.
Thanks for your interest in our Lower School Grades 3 through 5. Bullis is the only independent school in the DC metro area that has students of all grades on one campus. This affords even our youngest students the same facilities as our oldest students, as well as the opportunity for them to connect with older role models. At the same time, we know that our youngest students have very different needs, emotionally, socially and academically, than their older counterparts and as such our program offers them a very tailored experience that will provide support, development and confidence-building to take on the challenges and embrace the opportunities that await them at Bullis in the years ahead.
From our Responsive Classrooms to reading millionaires, amazing arts program, one-to-one iPads and foreign language, and much more,
I’m proud to tell you more about our program. Come for a tour and please visit this page to learn more about what we think makes our Lower School so special in the D.C. area.
