Max Meltzer is one of the most impressive wrestlers in the history of Bullis' wrestling program. He was a three-time National Prep champion, a three-time IAC champion and a two-time Maryland State Champion. In just three years at Bullis, he set a school record of 143 wins.

In his freshman season, Max was named All-Gazette, won the IAC title, finished second at the St. Albans tournament, third at the Maryland State Independent Schools Championship and seventh at the National Prep tournament. Additionally, Max was named to the second team All-Met by The Washington Post. As a sophomore, Max had the county's best overall individual performance, winning the Damascus Holiday Wrestling Tournament. He also won the St. Albans Tournament, placed third in the prestigious Tournament of Champions in Nevada and was named to the first team All-Met by The Washington Post for his record of 52-2. As a junior, Max once again won the IAC title and St. Albans Tournament. These accolades earned him a ranking of fifth in the country by the National High School Coaches Association.

Max attended Harvard University where he was a three-time NCAA qualifier and was one of three Harvard wrestlers who, for the first time in the program's history, earned All-American honors at the 2007 NCAA Wrestling Championship. He was team captain and 1^st team All-Ivy League during his junior and senior years. Max achieved an 88-29 record at Harvard, graduating in 2007.

Max received an honorable mention from the Maryland State Wrestling Association in its list of the All-Time Greatest Maryland Wrestlers. . He also represented the U.S. at the international Maccabiah Games in Israel, bringing home the gold in 2005 and 2009.
