Jim Bakhtiar '54

Jim attended Bullis for a postgraduate year after an outstanding career at Western H.S. in Washington, DC. While at Western he was the football team captain and was selected All-Met 1st team and a High School All-American. At Bullis, Jim was football team captain and the leading ground-gainer on the 1953 team, which won the Silver Bowl against the University of Maryland freshman.
After Bullis, Jim entered the University of Virginia where he captained the freshmen team as well as the Varsity. In his sophomore year he was selected as Sophomore Back of the year for the entire nation. He was All-ACC for 2 years and in his Senior year was a first team All-American selection as picked by Look Magazine and the Football Writers of America. At the conclusion of his senior season, Jim was chosen to play in the annual North-South game. Following his career at the University of Virginia he played one year with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.
