Celebrating the Impact of Young Athletes Beyond the Game
In a heartwarming display of kindness, teamwork, and leadership, members of the Bullis Boys Lacrosse team recently joined forces with Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse (PAL) for a special event that showcased more than just their skills on the field. PAL, a program designed for athletes with disabilities, offers a nurturing and safe environment for individuals with cognitive and physical challenges to learn and enjoy the sport of lacrosse. This collaboration took place during the Shootout for Soldiers Tournament, an event aimed at raising funds for critical services for veterans.
Ike S. '25, who has worked with PAL since 7th grade, organized this opportunity for his fellow teammates Cooper R. '25, Jake Z. '26, Mason A. '27, Sully F. '27, Grayson F. '27, Anthony K. '27, and Andrew R. '27, all of whom stepped up to make the event a success.
Coach Marty Delaney of Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse expressed his utmost gratitude towards these student-athletes for their exceptional kindness and patience while engaging with every member of the Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse team. His heartfelt acknowledgment serves as a testament to the positive influence and deep sense of community fostered by Bullis through its students.
Bullis students truly reflected the school's ideal of espousing character, teamwork, resilience, and leadership and are amazing ambassadors for Bullis. I share your pride in them and their efforts to serve others.Coach Marty Delaney, Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse
The involvement of Bullis students in this event not only highlighted their sportsmanship but also their capacity for empathy, collaboration, and joy. These qualities, reflected in their generous spirit and willingness to help others, are a clear embodiment of our ethos.
Thank you to our young athletes for their admirable contributions both on and off the field. Their actions serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration, proving once again that sports can be a powerful venue for promoting inclusivity, understanding, and change.
