Bullis School alum Charlie Yang ’23 has been recognized with the George B. Wood Legacy Sophomore Prize at Princeton University, awarded annually to juniors for exceptional academic achievement during their sophomore year.

A recipient of the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence for his first year at Princeton, Yang is a mathematics major who is also pursuing minors in computer science and optimization and quantitative decision science, as well as considering a minor in classics. He has distinguished himself with additional honors, including the Manfred Pyka Memorial Physics Prize (2024) and the German Department’s Book Prize (2025).

This summer, Yang conducted mathematics research with Princeton faculty and participated in the PIIRS Global Seminar “Contemporary Japan.” Beyond his academic achievements, he is active in the Princeton community as a course assistant in probability and stochastic systems, a member of the Princeton Equestrian Team, and an engaged participant in the Classics and Math Clubs. He also broadened his global perspective through a 2024 PIIRS Global Seminar in Chile.

Bullis congratulates Charlie on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates his outstanding accomplishments at Princeton. We are proud to see him carrying forward the spirit of excellence nurtured at Bullis.
