What grade did you start at Bullis?
-
I have been a student at Bullis since 2018, my 8th grade year.
-
What classes have you most enjoyed at Bullis and why?
-
The class that I have most enjoyed at Bullis was Honors English. I chose this class as my favorite because of a fantastic teacher: he had a rigorous yet fair grading system; incorporated many different insightful and challenging texts, such as an excerpt from The Braindead Megaphone when we discussed the news; and he always gave us helpful feedback and comments on every assignment and essay, some of which I have kept in my notebook to refer back to as needed. In addition, the four books I read - Purple Hibiscus, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Odyssey, and Macbeth - really extended my knowledge and comprehension of the world and western culture.
-
What activities do you participate in at Bullis?
-
Tech Crew, International Thespian Festival (with an individual event on set design), SGA Representative, Bulldog Productions, rock climbing, community service such as volunteering to record musicals, plays, dance shows, and Jazz Cafes, and making the senior video for the class of 2020, International Thespian Society Secretary, Model UN Leadership Team Member.
-
What do you like most about the Bullis community?
-
What I most like about the Bullis community is the numerous possibilities it provides me: I can try out the 3D printers and laser cutters to create something I like for my set design project, or simply for fulfilling my curiosity; I can learn about broadcasting and filming techniques in-depth with advanced equipment; and I can also design and build sets for the plays and musicals all year round.
-
What are you most passionate about and why?
-
I am most passionate about the process of learning whether from my teachers, my classmates, or books because it not only makes me feel fulfilled but it also expands my knowledge.
-
What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?
-
I would like to see the global challenge of health care issues (and poverty essentially) tackled. I can see myself contributing to improving health care around the world by learning - in high school, college, graduate school, etc. - as there is little I can do if I do not have enough knowledge, and I believe that I will be able to contribute to solving this problem as I learn more.
-
Why Bullis?
