What grade did you start at Bullis?
-
I have been at Bullis since 2019, my freshman year.
-
What classes have you most enjoyed at Bullis and why?
-
I enjoyed Geometry with Mr. Zimmer because he made the class enjoyable and easy to understand. He was always available for extra instruction and helped me move from regular to honors level math. I really like my AP World History class with Mr. Mosteller. I am lucky to have him as my history teacher for a second year. We have developed an understanding and appreciation for one another's learning and teaching styles. He always highlights what is important to know and makes sure we are all keeping up with the heavy workload.

What activities do you participate in at Bullis?
-
I am a member of the Booster Club and participated in many projects offered through the Community Service Club. I enjoyed laying wreaths at Arlington Cemetery and walking for Alzheimers with other Bullis students. In addition, I play varsity lacrosse and field hockey. Lacrosse is my main sport and I was sad to miss most of my first year on the team. Luckily, Coach Lloyd worked really hard to keep us all connected and in shape with many virtual opportunities.

What do you like most about the Bullis community?
-
The Bullis community is supportive and spirited. When I need extra class assistance, teachers and classmates are always available to help. This is also true in athletics. In addition, Bullis is a school with lots of spirit - we all come out to support one another on the field, for school plays, community service projects, and more. It is great to be a part of a loud, fun, and supportive school. Go Bulldogs!
-
What are you most passionate about and why?
-
I am most passionate about lacrosse. It has always been my favorite sport. It's a huge part of my life and I am very grateful for it. Playing competitive lacrosse from a young age taught me how to work hard and balance competing priorities in my life.
-
What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?
-
There are many global challenges I wish I could tackle, but I tend to focus my energy on poverty and hunger in my local community. I volunteer with an organization called Stepping Stones Shelter. Their mission is to provide shelter and services to help transition families out of homelessness. This past year, with the support of my community, I collected needed food and supplies for the shelter. I have provided numerous home cooked meals, back to school backpacks, showered an expectant mother with needed baby supplies, and organized special meals and events around holidays, such as Easter and Mother's Day. I am currently working to fill 25 laundry baskets with needed supplies, such as paper towels and new bedding for the shelter.

Students at Bullis have access to amazing resources in academics, sports, and the arts. The facilities at Bullis are unmatched. The new Discovery Center is perfect for those interested in math and science. The athletic facilities and the theatre/art center provide student athletes and artists with everything they need and want. Bullis is not known for any one program over another and the resources devoted to each of these areas is incredible. These facilities combined with a supportive teaching staff and a diverse and spirited student body make Bullis a perfect choice!
