Meet Kenadi and Kendal ‘24

How twins share in and find individual passions at Bullis.

  • What grade did you start at Bullis and what is your class year?
  • We started at Bullis in 6th grade and are in the Class of 2024.

  • What activities do you participate in at Bullis?
  • Kenadi: I actively participate in field hockey and lacrosse at Bullis. I am passionate about art and enjoy it throughout the year. I am looking forward to joining one of the many clubs that Bullis offers in the Upper School. The choices of clubs are abundant and excellently catered to various interests.

  • Kendal: At Bullis, I have participated in field hockey and lacrosse since sixth grade. In addition to lacrosse inside of school, I also play outside of school. Each year, I have had the opportunity to partake in art classes, and I also shared my artwork in annual Art Shows. My classmates and I,started the process of creating an eco-friendly plant box for our beautiful butterfly garden. Along with the clubs I have participated in, I also had the chance to join the Leadership Academy in the seventh grade where we learned leadership strategies. As community service is extremely important to me, I have also taken part and look forward to the Bullis Buddy Run each year.

  • What are you most passionate about and why?
  • Kenadi: I am most passionate about art and design. I am extremely imaginative and love to craft and learn new techniques. Through opportunities like Open Studio Art and Art major, I was able to explore this passion and develop my skills. I believe that
Bullis truly caters to any interest or activity you want to take on. The many activities the school provides assisted me to find my passion and dedicate my time to doing the activities I like.

  • Kendal: Something that I have found a passion for is community service. As Bullis has provided opportunities to get involved with service acts through the buddy runs and annual food drives, I have grown a love for serving others. Community service has been instilled in me for as long as I can remember, and though you may be helping others, the people you meet along the way are the individuals who have brought me joy through the happiness they feel. Whether a food drive, toy donation, the yearly backpack and school supply drive I participate in or helping at the women’s shelter, I believe community service has massively impacted my life as I have met new people and through these experiences have bettered myself.

  • What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?
  • Kenadi: I would like to see more action taken on climate change. People must preserve the earth and contribute to change. I want to spread awareness through social media and help organizations that fight for the same ideals and values as mine.

  • Kendal: A global challenge I would like to continue contributing to for positive change is world hunger. Through my IMPACT class in the eighth grade, I learned more about this conflict that faces millions of people each and every single day. I would first like to continue making an impact locally: contributing and donating to the food banks here in Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. In terms of global world hunger, I would like to get involved with world hunger action groups that donate food necessities and assist those who go hungry each night with food security for them and their families.

  • What do you like most about the Bullis community?
  • Kenadi: There are many qualities that the Bullis community possesses such as the opportunities they give to students to be involved with the school and in their community. However, my favorite attribute of the community is the number of choices and freedom students have to create the best student life experience. The range of selections I was able to make in my previous years at school allowed me to explore my interest and develop my own passion for various subjects.

  • Kendal: What I like most about the Bullis community is the close bond that we all share. Through blue and gold competitions, homecoming events, and football games, we all have the opportunity to build connections in our community that make us as a whole even closer. No matter if you are new or a lifer you are always welcomed as if you had gone to Bullis for years. The Bullis community is a close and supportive environment where your choices will be heard. If it is through a class representative or the co-presidents, we all prioritize each other in such a selfless manner. We truly uphold the core values and because of this, our community grows closer each day.
