How long have you been at Bullis?
Since 2001
What role or roles do you play at Bullis? If you are teaching faculty, what do you teach?
Middle School Technology
What made you decide to work in an educational setting?
I didn't really like school as a kid so I keep that in mind in my teaching and I try to mix it up for students.
What is your favorite thing about working at Bullis?
The students, the staff, and lunch (before the pandemic). Helping students create interesting and compelling projects using the digital and physical tools we have.
When not at Bullis, what interests do you pursue?
Biking, hiking, gardening, and building things.
Who is someone that inspires you and how?
I am inspired by the students who attend Bullis but live far away. They get up so early, make the long trip, and give it their all. That makes me want to do better as a teacher.
What is the best book or production that you have read, watched, or listened to lately?
Bullis Performing and Visual Arts! And I really like documentaries on PBS.
What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?
Climate change. I try to weave the concept of reducing and reusing resources into everything I do.
What is one fun fact about you that others may not know or may surprise them?
I lived on a farm for a couple of years. I raised sheep, pigs, and chickens and helped neighbors with haying, building fences, and other farm chores.
Why would you tell a prospective family to choose Bullis?
We have a lot of fun, but take learning very seriously.
