How long have you been at Bullis?
Since 2018
What role or roles do you play at Bullis? If you are teaching faculty, what do you teach?
I teach 7th grade life science (and I love doing bioengineering challenges with my students when they fit in the curriculum).
What made you decide to work in an educational setting?
I wanted students to have fun while learning in creative ways.
What is your favorite thing about working at Bullis?
The daily dose of positive energy I receive from literally everyone on the campus.
When not at Bullis, what interests do you pursue?
I love creating delicious food for my family and friends. Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, has always been my go-to for food inspiration. I love walking, hiking, biking and, when I can, getting lost in a great book.
Who is someone that inspires you and how?
My husband Chris. We've been married for almost 30 years, but even when I mess up he loves me unconditionally. Plus he still makes me laugh and he is salt-of-the-earth good to everyone.
What is the best book or production that you have read, watched, or listened to lately?
I just finished reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and it really got me thinking about how we could have countless different lives depending upon the choices we make along the way and what it truly means to have a life well-lived.
What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?
I am really shaken about the 333 boys who were recently abducted from their science school in Nigeria. I don't know how I can change that situation, but I can pray that somehow, someway they are returned to their families.
What is one fun fact about you that others may not know or may surprise them?
Many years ago a student of mine met JK Rowling in the sweet toy store that used to be in Cabin John Mall. JK Rowling was just starting her book tour for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and she wasn't a household name yet. My student was so upset that they missed my class to go to her book signing that they brought me back a signed first edition!!!!
Why would you tell a prospective family to choose Bullis?
After teaching for 33 years I can truly say that Bullis is a special gem - from the positive, passionate teachers and faculty to the motivated students and beautiful work environment I'm always happy when I step onto campus and I think that your family would be too.
