How long have you been at Bullis?

I have been at Bullis since 1998.

What role or roles do you play at Bullis? If you are teaching faculty, what do you teach?

Director of Visual & Performing Arts, I teach MS Band and MS/US Jazz groups

What made you decide to work in an educational setting?

I want to share my love of music with students!

What is your favorite thing about working at Bullis?

The many opportunities to learn and grow, the strong and diverse and welcoming community, and the ways in which Bullis keeps moving forward and evolving. It is a dynamic and exciting environment, with so many amazing students, faculty, and families!

When not at Bullis, what interests do you pursue?

Playing trumpet with my main music group, Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band. Sports and outdoor adventures. Home projects.

Who is someone that inspires you and how?

Several of my mentors and professors growing up really inspired my love of music and influenced me to become a teacher. I aspire to make a difference for others in the ways that they did for me.

What is the best book or production that you have read, watched, or listened to lately?

Les Intouchables (a French movie starring Omar Sy)--it was great! I also watched Star Wars- The Mandalorian with my family. We loved it!

What global challenge would you like to see tackled and how do you see yourself contributing to the positive change that you desire?

Racism/intolerance. I hope to contribute by challenging myself to keep learning as much as I can and keep finding ways to engage and advocate for greater change and understanding.

What is one fun fact about you that others may not know or may surprise them?

In addition to music, I was a committed athlete growing up and played Div. I soccer in college.

Why would you tell a prospective family to choose Bullis?

There are so many opportunities here and Bullis is a place where students can truly find their passions, be challenged, learn, and grow. Our academic and athletic programs are top-notch. Our arts program is second to none and we have an amazing faculty who are committed to helping every student thrive.
