Below you will find detailed information to guide you through the application process for your student. Please note that there are different requirements depending on the grade to which you are applying.
- Lower School: Kindergarten - Grade 2

Lower School: Kindergarten - Grade 2

Follow these step-by-step instructions in order to apply to the Lower School (Kindergarten through grade 2)
Step 1: Submit an Inquiry & Create an Account

Step 3: Parent Interview (Virtual)
- After you submit your application and fee, schedule a virtual parent interview.
- The interview provides a member of the Bullis admission team an opportunity to learn more about your child and your family’s educational goals and is a chance for you to receive answers to your questions about Bullis.
Please note: This interview is available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee.

Step 4: Applicant Campus Tour
- Schedule a 45-minute walking tour of campus with your child.
- The tour will provide parents and the applicant a view of Lower School classrooms, outdoor spaces, and current Bullis students engaged in learning.
- Applicants are encouraged to accompany their guardian(s) on the tour.
Important note: This tour is available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee.

Step 5: Recommendations
Recommendation(s) are to be submitted through the Application Portal.
- Kindergarten: Submit one (1) recommendation letter from a current teacher.
- Grades 1 and 2: Submit two (2) recommendation letters:
- One (1) from a current teacher.
- One (1) from a current teacher, co-teacher, or a past homeroom teacher.

Step 6: School Records/Official Transcripts
- Give the completed School Record Request Form to your child’s current school.
- Records should be emailed to applicationforms@bullis.org with your child’s name in the subject line.

Step 7: Required Student Visit (In-Person)
Applicants to grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade are required to attend an in-person visit where the applicant will engage with other children their age in educational group activities.
Please note: This in-person visit is available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee.

Step 8: Testing (Optional)
- If within the last two years your child has completed educational testing, such as the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI), please send those results to applicationforms@bullis.org.
- The test results help our Admission committee gain a better understanding of your student's strengths and abilities.
- Submitting testing is optional and we will give equal consideration to applications with or without WPPSI results.

- Schedule a guided tour of the Lower School to see classrooms, outdoor spaces, and students in action.
- Applicants are encouraged to join their parent(s) on the tour.

Step 5: Shadow Day Visit
The Shadow Day visit includes:
- Applicant interview with a member of the admission team
- Academic assessment (30 minutes of math, reading, and writing activities)
- Experience a school day alongside current Bullis students
Please note: This visit is available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee.

Bullis will not require testing this year. Applicants have the option to submit the SSAT, ISEE, or Character Skills Snapshot, if you wish to do so.

Step 8: Shadow Day Visit
Shadow Day visits begin in October for students applying to grades 6–8. During the visit, applicants are paired with a Bullis student in their current grade, giving them the chance to meet future classmates, sit in on classes, enjoy a snack break, and experience a true day in the life of a Bullis student.
Please note: Shadow Days are available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee and completed Step 3 the in-person tour and interview.

After you have submitted an application and paid the application fee, it’s time to schedule your required interview and campus tour.

Experience a day in the life of a Bullis student during this 3-hour and 15-minute immersive program. Rising 9th graders will be paired with a current student to attend classes, participate in activities, and enjoy lunch together. This authentic experience provides insight into our academic programs, school culture, and daily school routine. Rising 9th graders will be paired with Bullis 8th graders so they can meet their future classmates. There will be opportunities for accepted students to visit the Upper School in the spring.
Please note: Shadow Days are available only to families who have completed Step 2 by submitting an application and paying the application fee and completed Step 3 the campus tour and interview.
