National Day of Silence Presented by PRISM

Students from Bullis's PRISM club hosted a powerful assembly in honor of the National Day of Silence. Upper schoolers dressed in the colors of the Pride flag to show their support for LGBTQ+ members of our community.
Special guest Joanna Lohman @JoannaLohman15 spoke to a packed auditorium about her journey embracing her queer identity and participated in a student Q&A panel during which she urged students to challenge their assumptions.

To conclude the assembly, students and faculty gathered in the amphitheater to observe moments of silence for those who have been discriminated against, those who feel like they have to be silent, those we have lost, those who have faced violence, and to show respect and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

About Joanna Lohman
Joanna Lohman is a keynote speaker and performance coach who is building a new generation of authentic leaders who redefine success. She is the author of "Raising Tomorrow's Champions" and a member of the United States Women's National Team. Joanna is the first player in Washington Spirit history to have her jersey retired, honoring her 16-year professional soccer playing career where she built a platform for social impact. She continues her influence as a human rights activist and Sport Diplomat, traveling the world and running programs in less developed nations that promote gender equality, conflict resolution, cultural understanding, and economic development.
With her trademark blonde mohawk, multi-hyphenated existence, and her own experience with injury, defeat, and setback, Joanna strives to live an unabashedly authentic life based on deep-rooted acceptance and helps others discover comfort in their own skin. She now takes on her greatest adventure yet, as wife to Melodie and parent to Luna.
