Bullis Summer Programs

MathTree: Bean Counting 201 and Masterpieces & Masterminds

Campers solidify their understanding of the concept of place value using real beans and larger numbers than in Bean Counting 101. Using MathTree® templates, they proceed to the number operations of addition and subtraction, including multiple-digit numbers—with and without regrouping. Campers explore odd and even numbers to discern patterns about them separately and together, and assemble a Digit Atlas in which they record their creative observations about single-digit numbers.

Campers enjoy Masterpieces & Masterminds for the second half of the day. In Masterpieces, campers create fascinating objets d’ art with a twist of geometry, from mobiles and Mobius strips, to pointillism and pentagons, and discover how closely art and geometry are related. In Masterminds, campers develop problem-solving strategies through play with a wide range of primarily 3-D puzzles.
