The Marriott Family Library
The Marriott Family Library is the resource center for Bullis School. With over 22,000 items and over 100 magazines and newspapers, the library’s mission is to provide resources that support the curricular needs of our community. The library is fully networked, so students may access the resources from any computer on campus through our automated catalog. Our online resources provide up-to-date information on a wide variety of topics, are available from networked computers on campus and can be accessed from home through the Bullis Web site. Currently we subscribe to full-text magazine databases, online multimedia encyclopedias and a variety of subject-specific databases, as well as some reference books online.
Use of the Library
The Library is open each regular school day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for study, research and recreational reading. No food, drink, gum or candy may be consumed in the library except during supervised events. Study rooms may be reserved for the upcoming week. Consult the notebook at the circulation desk to determine which rooms are available. Abuse of these policies or disruptive behavior will result in being asked to leave the library. Principals will be notified of any action taken by the library staff. Students are expected to use The Marriott Family Library as a resource, complying with the Bullis Honor Code and the Network Acceptable Use Policy.
Circulation Policies
All materials are circulated except reference resources, current magazines and reserved books. The circulation period for the Middle and Upper Schools is three weeks, and two weeks for Lower School students. Books may be renewed unless they have been requested by someone else. A student may have four items on loan at any one time.
Overdue Policies
Students with overdue books may not check out any other materials. Reminder notices and letters are sent to students through faculty members, language arts teachers and advisors. If books are not returned in a timely manner, letters are sent home to parents informing them of the overdue status and the cost of replacement.
