Smiles and sunshine mark the first day of the new school year
New students met returning students. New schedules were reviewed, and teachers and students began to get to know each other in classes. Upper School classes held class meetings, and students in all grades discovered new furniture in the library.
And while new things were the typical subject like any first day, tradition provided a familiar sense of stability. A wonderful convocation speaker—this time alum Moise Fokou '04—delivered an address that set the perfect tone for the year. He shared what Bullis meant to him, saying "this place has given me a lifetime of memories and friendships," and encouraged all the students to make the most of the year and remember that "effort counts twice. You can achieve anything with hard work and grit."
The all-school assembly also included singing of the school Alma Mater, "Hail the Blue and Gold," and the annual introductory roll call of classes.
