Annual Children's Concert presents music and story for area's youngest students

Each year Bullis hosts a special musical concert featuring students from grades 3-12 performing for the Bullis Lower School and other area early education schools. This year's theme was "The Dragons of Wudang."

Music performed centered on dragon-related titles: the Upper School Concert Band played energetic pieces such as "Year of the Dragon" by Michael Sweeney, "Eyes of the Dragon by Travis J. Weller, and "Castles and Dragons" and "Rampage!" by Todd Stalter. The String Ensemble, composed of Lower, Middle, and Upper School students, played dark and intense pieces including "Gauntlet" by Doug Spata, "Afterburn" by Brian Balmages, and "Dragon Slayer" by Rob Grice. Along with conductor/teacher Stephanie Mayer, students Azariah Reid '20 and Mark Williams '20 served as student-conductors for select pieces.

A corps of student actors—seniors Tomas Yang, Sydney Smith, and Siena McKnight and junior Maddie Mancuso--acted out the story of the birth of the Dragon King, his imprisonment later by his dragon children, and the chase of the Dragon King of his children through the night sky.

The concert features the talents of our student musicians and actors, and brings to life the beauty and thrill of concert music to our area's very youngest audiences.
