Musical marks the opening of the new Studio Theater
Take four talented girls, a score of popular 50s chart-topping tunes, and the brand new studio theater in the Boarman Discovery Center...and wow!
The Marvelous Wonderettes took to the stage with its "cotton-candied colored musical trip down memory lane" just two weeks after the start of the new school year. Starring Rachel Gluck '20 as Betty Jean, Alexis Leder '19 as Cindy Lou, Maddie Mancuso '19 as Suzy, and Rachel Sita '20 as Missy.
Junior Tamia Haskins served as the production's assistant director. The show marked the first production in the new studio theater, which seats just under 300 people in retractable seating that can adjust for different size audiences or disappear completely for art shows and other events that may take up the entire floor of the theater.
The show takes place in 1958 where we meet the our characters "with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts." The show follows their lives and love from prom night to their 10-year reunion, and includes such memorable songs as "It's My Party" and "Son of a Preacher Man."
