International Applicants

Step 1: Application

Step 2: Interview

Bullis requires interviews for all applicants. Please email wendy@bullis.org after you have submitted your application to schedule the interview and tour the school while it is in session.

If an interview in person is not possible, a VIDEO Skype call is required. Skype interviews can be scheduled through our office on designated days between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. EST. Please email Wendy Sturges to schedule.

Step 3: Testing

Applicants to grades 6 through 12 are required to take either the SSAT or the ISEE. Results from the PSAT or SAT/ACT may also be submitted, if they are available.

While not required, if the student has taken the TOEFL please submit those scores as well. The Bullis school code is 7611.

Step 4: Track your Status

Using the application user ID and password you can check the status of your application. All families are expected to follow the status of their child's application online in the application portal. Please check this regularly to ensure that your forms have been received and your application file is complete before the application deadline.

Housing

Since Bullis is not a boarding school, our Upper School international students have the wonderful and unique opportunity of residing with host families. In some cases, host families are current school families with children enrolled at Bullis. Other host families are current or past Bullis staff members, alumni families or referrals from within our community. As a member of the host family household, each international student is included in family meals, outings and other experiences.

Please note that homestay is not available for Lower and Middle School students. They must reside with at least one parent in the local area.

English

Our Upper School requires international students to take grade level English as well as an additional academic support class that strengthens core English skills, cultural awareness and study patterns. All other subjects are taken on grade level. We do not offer an ESL program.

Lower and Middle School international students work directly with our international student reading specialist.

Fees

In addition to Bullis tuition, international students incur international student services fees and, when applicable, homestay and insurance fees.

Please note that homestay is not available for Lower and Middle School students. They must reside with at least one parent in the local area.
