7th Grade Abstract Ceramics Spheres

7th graders created abstract ceramic spheres inspired by at least two types of sea-life. Students analyzed abstract art, looking in particular at organized texture. Students learned hand building with ceramics and learned how to create additive and subtractive design. Students then applied this knowledge to their creation as they planned, sculpted, and then glazed their artwork.

7th Grade Texture Journals

While studying abstract art and working with ceramics, students simultaneously explored abstract art with traditional materials. Students learned how to visually sculpt using paint, ink, collage (and other materials), and then students planned and executed their own artwork focusing on “organized abstract texture.”
