Passions Discovered and Developed
In every grade and division, students have many opportunities to develop skills and passions and try new activities…and work on a new project, discover a life-long hobby or explore a future career.
In Lower School, art and music classes are part of the curriculum. Students can elect to take instrumental music lessons and everyone joins chorus, band or strings. Each grade presents an annual theatrical production. Students start learning Spanish in 3rd grade and 5th graders run an Entrepreneurship Fair. The Lower School’s own Little Bulldog student newspaper has a large and eager staff, and everyone takes PE four times each week.
Middle Schoolers have many clubs they may join and explore, and their own newspaper. They also continue with visual and performing arts classes in 7th and 8th grades, and can select an arts major and minor to concentrate in. The Middle School musical each spring is always a fantastic production, and each trimester every Middle School student selects a seasonal sport to play.
In Upper School, the possibilities expand even more. Dozens of clubs—all student-created and –run—meet during the academic day and after school. Publications, JV and varsity athletics and a wide range of arts classes and activities are also offered.
In addition, Signature Programs provide academic opportunities to explore talent and interest in the arts, humanities and global studies, STEM and entrepreneurship. To receive certification of program completion, students also participate in a culminating Capstone project in their senior year.
