Grab a bucket and a drum stick! STOMP is the perfect camp for anyone who loves drumming and wants to learn techniques on everyday items. Campers use non-traditional instruments such as brooms, buckets, basketballs, cans and more to create small-group performances. In addition to learning drumming skills, campers create their own STOMP instruments from items such as soda bottles, buckets and paper plates. Campers learn to read and perform rhythms with their STOMP instruments and design a STOMP routine to perform for family and friends at the end of the session.
Director: Returning camp instructor Michelle Kelly teaches lower and middle school general music and chorus at Bullis School. Her goal is to help students gain an appreciation and understanding of the musical world around them using traditional and non traditional instruments. When she isn't teaching, she enjoys playing flute and attending concerts.
