December:
English Minimester

For the weeks between Thanksgiving and Winter Break, the English Department in the Upper School takes a break from the traditional year-long curriculum to offer students a choice of Minimester classes. Offering a range of unique options, Minimester gives students a chance to explore fun topics and study new forms of literature and expression.

The Power of Fear

An original spoken word poem by Julia L. ’17

We’re taught that our elders have the power and might,
But when they make a mistake
They’re only human, right?
We build walls of safety around ourselves.
Walls that stretch so high they touch the sky
And now the sky really is the limit.
So to the world I say don’t be afraid.
Because the danger of flying too close to the sun
Leads us to never leaving the ground.
