Model UNers participate in National High School Model Arab League

Eleven students from the Bullis Model UN club participated in the last conference of the season, Model Arab League, held the weekend of April 20-21 at Georgetown University. Cameron Buck ’12, Kendall Buck ’14, Adam Cohen ’14, Aurian Darvishi ’12, Ian Giles ’14, Matt Hansan ’14, Jai Paton ’13, James Wang ’15, Zach Wood ’14 and Leonardo Wu ’14 represented the country of Mauritania in five different committees where they debated the following issues: the internal unrest that may compromise collective Arab security; resolution of the Israeli - Palestinian conflict; universal primary education; developing ties with non-member Arab nations; and water scarcity. Steven Xue ’12 served as this year’s chief of staff.

Bullis students won several awards: ·

  • Four Bullis students were recognized as outstanding committee delegates: Adam Cohen, Zach Wood, James Wang and Jai Paton
  • Two Bullis students won honorable mentions for outstanding committee delegates: Aurian Darvishi and Matt Hanson
  • The entire Bullis delegation received an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Delegation

The event attracted delegations from 21 schools, and included more than 200 students. Congratulations to our junior diplomats for proudly and successfully representing Bullis!
