Maryland History Day

Eight Bullis students advance to Nationals

After school and county competitions in which 18,000 Maryland students participated, 400 students gathered at University of Maryland Baltimore County for Maryland History Day. The winners at the state event will represent Maryland at the national History Day competition in June.

Fifteen Bullis students participated—more than any other school—and 8 advanced to Nationals:

1st Place, Individual Documentary: Lauren Montgomery, “Levittown: Revolution of Equality in Housing”

2nd Place, Individual Website: Alex Herbets, “The Interstate Highway System and the Capital Beltway: A Motorized Revolution”

2nd Place, Group Website: Tejas Patel and Jackson Stoner, “Jackie Robinson: Revolution of the American Pastime”

2nd Place, Individual Exhibit: Alessandra Clark, “Child Labor Reform: Revolution for America’s Children”

2nd Place, Individual Performance: Lisette Booty, “Black Rosie: The Untold Story of African American Women in World War II”

1st Place: Group Performance: Jai Paton and Danny Neilson, “Education Reform in America, 1958-1964”

In addition, Zoe Goldberg received a special prize, sponsored by the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, for her individual exhibit, “The Integration of Glen Echo Park”
