Sixteen exchange students from Italy visited Bullis and stayed with host families this week, continuing a friendship that began over a year ago when our theater students first participated in the Roncalli Theater Festival in Poggibonsi, Italy. During spring break in 2011 and again this year, a group of Bullis students traveled to Italy to participate and perform in the event as part of the Bullis Global Studies program.
Fifteen Bullis families graciously hosted the students, who spent one day shadowing their hosts on campus. Some of the students also participated in the National Poetry Day all-school assembly by reciting two poems in both Italian and English, and performed their version of My Fair Lady for the Upper School later in the week. The students also toured Washington, D.C.
The visiting students are from Roncalli High School and L. da Vinci Middle School in Poggibonsi. They were accompanied by Paolo Croci and Clara Ticci, teachers and coordinators of the Roncalli theater festival. Clara is also the middle school’s vice principal.
