Admission Process

The Application

  • Complete and submit the Bullis inquiry form. Once you have received your password, click on Application Forms and complete and submit your application. Applications are available only online and the Application Fee is $75.
  • Call (301) 983-5724 for an interview and tour (applicants to grades 6 through 12) or a group visit and parent interview (applicants to grades 3 through 5).

Interviews and Tours

  • Bullis requires interviews for applicants to grades 6 through 12 as well as for parents of applicants to the Lower School. Please call the Admission Office at 301-983-5724 to schedule the interview and tour the school while it is in session.
  • Group tours are available without having to submit an application. Tours that focus solely on the Upper School are Monday mornings and begin at 8:30am. Tours that focus on the Middle and Lower Schools combined are Tuesday mornings at 8:30am. These tours will provide an introduction to life at Bullis and will run on select Mondays and Tuesdays and will begin in mid-September. Please call the Admission Office at 301-983-5724 to register for a tour. Spaces are limited. Upper School and Middle School students and parents of Lower School students who decide to apply will be required to return for an interview with a member of the Admission Office at a later date.

  • Applicants to grade 3, 4 and 5 are required to take the Bullis Admission Test (BAT). All lower school applicants (grades 3-5) are required to submit the results of a recent Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) evaluation. For more information, please refer to the Testing Information link at left.

School Visit

  • A group visit is mandatory for all applicants to grades 3, 4 and 5. Please call the Admission Office at 301-983-5724 to reserve a spot. Available dates and times are listed at the Testing Information link at left. During this group visit students will take their Bullis Admission Test (BAT). There is no need to schedule a second testing appointment. Lower School visitors may come casually and comfortably attired unless otherwise notified.
  • Visiting students are to be dressed in either their school uniform or: Girls—a dress skirt of appropriate length or khaki slacks and oxford shirt or polo; Boys—polo or dress shirt, tie and khaki slacks. Please do not arrive in casual attire such as jeans, sweats, shorts or short skirts. No sneakers or flip flops are allowed.
  • The visit remains an optional step in the application process, yet it is an excellent opportunity for students to experience life at Bullis alongside a current student. The Bullis Admission Office has set aside the following dates as “shadow” dates for both Middle School and Upper School applicants. Students must be active applicants in order to shadow. “Active” means than an application must be on file and a student interview is on the calendar or has been completed. Visiting students arrive at 9:00 a.m. and are our guests for lunch. Departure is at 12:20 p.m. for visiting Middle School students and at 1:10 p.m. for visiting Upper School students. Spaces are limited, so please call the admission office at 301-983-5724 to register.
