The Marriott Family Library at Bullis is open from 7:30am until 6:00pm each school day.

As the resource center for Bullis School, the library’s mission is to provide resources that support the curricular needs of our community. Our online resources provide up-to-date information on a wide variety of topics, are available from networked computers on campus, and can be accessed from home through the Bullis website. Currently we subscribe to full-text databases of newspapers and journals, online encyclopedias and reference works, as well as streaming video. Two full-time librarians are on staff to support student learning both in groups and individually and through the library website. Students are encouraged to ask for help whenever necessary.

Academic Center

In a time when we know more about a student’s learning, learning styles, and best practices than ever before, The Bullis Academic Center, located in the Marriot Family Library, supports Upper School students and teachers to optimize a student’s learning experience. The Academic Center is a hub for learning and achievement. Students are encouraged to spend study halls in the Center, and all Upper School teachers are expected to spend two periods per week working in the Center.

The Upper School Learning Specialist, an Academic Coach, and a Media Specialist are located in the Academic Center and help oversee the Center. The Learning Specialist and Coach offer strategies to enhance the cognitive and academic performance of all students. The Academic Center also houses a fully functioning Writing Center staffed by a member of the English department for students who seek writing enrichment or help with various writing assignments.

The Academic Center also has two state of the art digital media rooms for student projects, video conferencing, presentations, and collaboration.

The Barn

The central area of the library, known as The Barn, is furnished with comfortable couches and chairs for use by students during the day as a place to work, collaborate, check e-mail and chat with friends.

Borrowing Policies

Upper and Middle School students may borrow books for a period of three weeks, with the exception of reference materials, periodicals and items on reserve. Lower School students may borrow books for two weeks. Loan periods on equipment vary..
